Off to London

Off to London with Cate. These are from the three days Bene and I spent there last September. Hope we'll come back with more pictures.

Blurry Fragments of a Lazy Morning

Taken in the hotel room Bene and I shared last September in London. I'll be going back to the U.K. next Saturday for a few days with Cate.

A few seconds at Piccadilly Circus

I've been to London many many times, and one place I never got to like is Piccadilly Circus. That might be because it's a very tourist-y place, or maybe just because there really ain't much to see but a bunch of huge ads. Whatever. After a whole day of wild shopping in Camden, B and I decided to stop at Piccadilly just because. Just the time to take these three pictures and then we went back to our hotel. The sky was overcast, but my trusty "Russia Day" and the amazing Provia 400x did a great job anyway. I'm in love with this film, if it only was so expensive [€11 per roll] and hard to find 'round here...

Breakfast at Garfunkel's

On our last day in London last September Bene and I indulged in some massive English breakfast at Garfunkel's at Gloucester Arcade. I really enjoyed the atmosphere... and the food, of course.

Canon Ae-1: Birthday in London

Bunny whore on crack
[just pretending]
'Cause it's good to be stupid sometimes.

I spent my 21st birthday in London with Marty. I was so disappointed when I came back and got my rolls developed 'cause there was only one picture off my birthday. I thought they were too underexposed or something like that, then two days ago I went to the photolab to drop some recent rolls, and there it was: "CAE-1/LDNBday" [I'm a pro when it comes to labelling]. I just can't tell you the anticipation I went through for the 90 minutes it took them to develop and print my pictures. I luckily was hanging around with Bene for some shopping, I would have been standing at the lab's counter asking "How much longer?" the whole time, otherwise.

This first one is the first shot of the morning. I was over excited: it's nice to turn 21 in a hotel room while travelling abroad with a friend for the first time completely alone, and the mess on my bedside table just put me in the best mood.

While I got back from the shower, I found this wonderful necklace on my pillow with a tiny happy b-day note by Marty: it was all too good to be true! She bought me this amazingly cute pendant the previous day in Camden, it's an owl [I've had a thing for owls long before it became fashionable] and as I've just mentioned, it is the cutest pendant in the whole world. It deserves a better shot, so here's one off the same roll I took once back in Italy.

No kidding, I told ya. Now, my first awful mirror-shot as a 21y.o. Marty always tells me I should turn the lens barrel with my hand placed under it, and I know I'd look more like a pro if I did, but I like doing things my old wrong way. Besides, I'm quite far from being a pro.

We spent the whole day in Oxford Street. The. Whole. Day. The worst thing about my bday was having lunch at KFC. I hate chiken, I hate to cook it, to eat it, I hate everything about it: its pinkish color, it's non-taste, it's awful consistency. I just hate it. Also, next time I'd gladly skip the 23748483kms queue at Top Shop, which was much of a disappointment. We managed to buy tons of shirts, vests, sweaters, bags, belts, anything.

We thought it would be cool to put all of our buys on the bed. We just took a couple of pictures, then we put it all in our luggage and had dinner. On the same bed [our room had a micro-desk but no chair, but we were always so tired the bed felt just perfect].

I wore one of the dressing gown bought at Top Shop and my bunny ears [bought the same day at Claire's], my "Leave Me Alone" sleep mask [also Claire's] and Marty took a picture of me [that's a huge parrott toy I named Mr Kingstone, bought in Camden for my 4y.o. cousin].

I'm so happy I've finally found these pictures, that's the magic of film, some things get lost, some thing get found. Also, I'm in love with all these light leaks, I'm in love with my Canon AE-1, and I'm so in love with film.

Canon Ae-1: Forgotten Camden Shots

A bunch of pictures taken in Camden Town during my last trip to London last April. I completely forgot about these, I guess it was some kind of self-defense, like repression, due to the fact that they're all - let's face it - quite awful.
I didn't want to upload them, but plans are made about adding a mythical new section to this humble blog of mine. I'll most likely add it as soon as I'm done watching every single Law&Order episode ever made and as soon as I'm done with a new translation commissioned by Lomography Italia about some kind of a secret project those guys have been carrying out for some time now - I guess I'm not supposed to talk about it ;-)

I really enjoy this collab with Lomography Italia because not only it allows me to get almost anything I might ever dream of off their shop, but also because I have somekind of a "preview" on new products that will most likely become everyone's obsession within a month or so... I could turn into a Lomo-insider-trading-trend-setter if I ever were to become evil, but alas!, I'm a nice one and I always play by the rules. Too bad, I know!

Now it's 3am and tomorrow's gonna be a tough day, so let me just wish you a lovely week and see ya!

Konica Pop: Tower of London, A Goodbye

April 19th was our last day in London. We woke up pretty early, but M and I decided to go to Tower Bridge on a rush that eventually turned into one hour on the tube + 20 minutes at the Tower + one more hour on the tube. Once back to the hotel, we collected our stuff and left [and I left there a wonderful t-shirt I had bought for my sister in Camden too].

We arrived in Victoria Coach Station, in front of our National Express coach to Luton, at 12:59. It was supposed to leave at 1pm, so the driver didn't allow us to get on it. So we had to buy two more tickets for the airport, and wait one more hour.

Once on the coach, we got stuck in the usual car jam for quite a long time. Our flight was to depart at 4:25pm. We were quite afraid we might miss it. We luckily were being entertained by a little bilingual girl who left the both of us speechless. It was one of those few moments that make you go "I want to have kids someday". Than you see another kid puking on his mom's neat dress, and you remind yourself of how simple life just is this way.

Once at the airport, we were lucky enough to be offered two priority boarding pass by the hostess, who also put our hand luggage in the stow. Aren't we two lucky girls?
On board we had two wonderful croque monsieur sandwiches [we were pretty starving], we landed in Milan on time and then M's parents brought us home.

It was a wonderful time and I really can't wait to go back to London again -I'm addicted!

All pictures taken by me with my beloved Konica Pop on Fuji Sensia 200 except the last pictures, taken by M with my camera.
